Our Story

Founded in 2016 by Pete and Kaycee Stanley, The Reel Hope Project was born from a single, powerful vision: a forever family for every child.

Pete and Kaycee had always carried a deep passion for adoption. But as they looked around, they saw too many kids and teens in the U.S. foster care system were overlooked and forgotten. Combining their love for stories, kids, and Jesus, they launched The Reel Hope Project—where storytelling meets advocacy.

At The Reel Hope Project, we believe there is nothing more powerful than a story. As a faith-fueled organization, Jesus is our why. Family is our mission.

A few years into the Reel Hope journey, Kaycee met the coolest 12-year-old in the world on a video shoot. After walking through the adoption process, she and Pete officially became his parents in 2019. As both biological and adoptive parents, they’ve come to know firsthand the beauty, joy, and complexity of building a family through adoption. And they wouldn’t have it any other way.

Today, the Reel Hope Project is serving kids in 8 states across the nation, with a long long-term goal of serving 1,000 kids per year until we find a forever family for every child.

One of our earliest convictions is that the Church has a special heart when it comes to adoption. People of faith are significantly more likely to adopt children than the general public. Though our reels are shared to a variety of platforms and with a variety of audiences, we specialize in sharing these reels in churches and faith-based environments.

Below is one of the first videos we made: a creative retelling of the history of the Church in caring for the vulnerable.
