Contract Videographers
Contract Videographers support our mission by capturing and highlighting the unique personalities of the youth we serve. They're responsible for creating our primary content: high-quality, personalized adoption recruitment videos. We're specifically looking for videographers who live in CO, NV, TX, MN, and ND.
This is a contracted position and is not eligible for employee benefits. You'll work closely with the Shoots Manager and Coordination Manager.
Compensation
$75/hour for the duration of the shoot day. Time is calculated as round-trip, starting from when you leave your home and ending when you return.
$300 per kid reel edit.
An additional $100/night for overnight trips.
Travel Reimbursement & Coverage
For shoots that require extended or overnight travel:
Flights, rental vehicles, hotel accommodations, and meals are covered by The Reel Hope Project. We follow the Federal Per Diem lodging and meal rates based on the specific state of travel.
Mileage reimbursement is calculated from your home and follows the IRS standard rate of $0.70 per mile.
Frequency
1-8 shoots/month, with the average being 2-5 shoots/month.
This role involves occasional overnight travel. We're looking for someone who can prioritize and comfortably manage overnight trips as part of their work schedule.
Requirements
2+ years of videographer experience.
2+ years of experience working with youth is strongly preferred. Applicants with teaching or special education backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
Provide your own equipment, which must include two digital cameras and lavalier microphones.
Proficiency in a video editing software (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, etc.).
Strong commitment to protecting the privacy standards for foster care youth. You must maintain the privacy and dignity of all involved and exercise wisdom and caution with youth footage.
Adaptive, flexible, and patient in high-stress environments.
Collaborative and open to team and/or social worker feedback.
Proficient in Google Suite.
Highly detail-oriented and committed to excellence.
Excellent time management skills.
Ability to show initiative independently and work collaboratively on a small team in a remote, long-distance setting.
Able to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities
Work cooperatively and professionally with TRHP staff and the contractor team. Serve as a strong partner to the Shoot Lead on shoot days.
Travel may be required within The Reel Hope Project’s current focus states—as well as any future expansion states—to complete video shoots.
Set up and tear down audio, video, and lighting when applicable.
Direct and capture a wide variety of footage (interview, b-roll, and action) of individual youth and/or sibling groups throughout the duration of each shoot. Footage should be specific to each site location and the youth's interests.
Engage positively and comfortably with a wide variety of youth spanning in cognitive and physical ability, race, ethnicity, gender identity, religion, and biological and developmental age.
Engage positively and comfortably with social workers, site hosts, etc.
Display flexibility and patience during interviews or activities. Be prepared to pivot as plans change or youth require specific accommodations. Always maintain a positive attitude and focus on capturing the youth’s best side.
Edit captured video footage into a compelling two-minute video.
Edit the first draft within the set project deadline of 7 days.
Incorporate any requested edits/feedback and send final required deliverables within 2 days of receipt of such feedback and proposed revisions.
Understand the TRHP brand and adhere to data privacy policies and procedures.
